How to Find Sex Offenders in Hawaii County
Use the state registry at sexoffenders.ehawaii.gov to search for sex offenders anywhere on the Big Island. Enter a zip code, street name, or offender name to get results. The radius search feature lets you pick any address and find all registered offenders within a chosen distance. That is useful for checking a home, school, or workplace. Each result shows the offender's photo, physical description, current address, and the offense that put them on the registry.
For Hilo searches, start with zip codes 96720 and 96721. For the Kona side, use 96740. Other parts of the island have their own codes: Waimea is 96743, Pahoa is 96778, Pahala is 96777, and Honokaa is 96727. The system lets you search multiple zip codes in sequence to build a more complete picture of a larger area. Results update each night after the registry refresh.
In addition to the state portal, the National Sex Offender Public Website lets you search Hawaii County alongside registries from other states in one place. This is useful if you want to check whether a person who recently moved to the Big Island was registered in a previous state. The national site pulls directly from each state's own database.
Note: Public access terminals at the Hilo and Kona police stations allow in-person registry searches Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, at no charge.

The Third Circuit Court handles all criminal matters for Hawaii County. It has two divisions. The Hilo Division is at 777 Kilauea Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720, phone (808) 961-7400, open Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM. Court records from the Third Circuit are available through the Hawaii State Judiciary's eCourt Kokua public portal. You can search by name, case ID, or citation number with no account required. The system shows charge descriptions, hearing dates, and case dispositions. For sex offense cases the judgment document often includes the registration requirement imposed by the court. Documents through eCourt Kokua cost $3.00 per document or ten cents per page, whichever is greater.
Criminal conviction records for Hawaii County are also available through the HCJDC eCrim system. Call (808) 587-3279 for help with eCrim access. The Hawaii Community Correctional Center serves as the main county jail for the Big Island.

Their site explains how to read offender profile pages, what the status categories mean, and what to do if you believe an offender is not complying with registration requirements.
